“a voice as soothing as summer rain” – Rolling Stone
Grammy award-winning and Platinum selling artist Suzy Bogguss chases her muse wherever it may lead. She has covered country, swing, jazz, folk, Americana and roots music with style and grace. Moreover, her live performances include her hits and choice material from her critically acclaimed albums. Further, Suzy’s appeal has never wavered and her fan base continues to grow with constant touring around the globe.
During the creative explosion that was country music in the 1990s Bogguss sold 4 million records. She had sparkling radio hits like “Outbound Plane”, “Someday Soon”, “Letting Go”, “Drive South”, and “Hey Cinderella”. But you can’t peg Suzy that easily…
In the midst of her country popularity she took time off to make a duets album with the legendary Chet Atkins. Then in 2003, an album of modern swing music with Ray Benson of Asleep At The Wheel. Then in 2007, an album of original jazz that landed her at #4 on the jazz charts. In 2009, her folk roots took the spotlight. To that end, she made frequent appearances on A Prairie Home Companion. Further, she won a Grammy for her work on Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster. In 2014 she released Lucky, a collection of songs written by Merle Haggard and interpreted through Suzy’s crystal vocals from the female point of view. Her latest offering, 2023’s Prayin’ For Sunshine, is an Americana tour de force with all songs written by Bogguss.
So yes, you can call her a country singer if you want, but really that’s just the beginning. Suzy Bogguss truly is an artist that knows no boundaries and one who always leaves everyone wondering what she’ll do next!
