“a master class in articulate, striking songwriting.” – American Songwriter

Suzanne Vega will be joined on stage by her longtime guitarist, Gerry Leonard (of David Bowie fame). Together they perform a career-spanning show including favorites like “Tom’s Diner”, “Luka”, and more!

Vega is one of the most significant songwriters of her generation. She emerged as a leading figure of the early 1980s folk revival. There, with nothing but her voice and acoustic guitar, she sang what is now called contemporary folk or neo-folk in Greenwich Village clubs. Further, she released her self-titled, critically acclaimed debut album in 1985. Since then, she has given sold-out concerts in many of the world’s most famous venues. Furthermore, she earned praise for performances that convey deep emotion. Vega’s signature “clear, unwavering voice” (Rolling Stone) is also described as “a cool, dry sandpaper-brushed near-whisper” by The Washington Post. Furthermore, NPR Music noted that she “has been making vital, inventive music” throughout the course of her decades-long career.

Suzanne Vega’s latest offering, “Rats”, chronicles the infamous rat population of her home, New York. Additionally, the song came out in September 2024, at the same time as New York’s first Rat Summit. Accompanied by an animated video from filmmaker Martha Colburn, “Rats” offers a glimpse at a new album, coming in 2025.

Vega’s songs have focused on city life, ordinary people and real-world subjects. They bear the stamp of a masterful storyteller who “observes the world with a clinically poetic eye” (New York Times). Also, her work is immediately recognizable for its succinct and understated style. Moreover, her voice is as utterly distinct and thoughtful as it was when she first played nearly forty years ago.

Recommended for fans of Tori Amos, Aimee Mann, Liz Phair and Laurie Anderson.
