Scottie Miller Trio

“A deeply soulful musician with a fearless mind and the heart of a hopeless romantic.” – WWOZ, New Orleans

Singer-songwriter-pianist Scottie Miller has toured with Rock & Roll Hall of Fame legend Bo Diddley. Also, Hal Leonard has published his work and he was inducted three times into The Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame. Ruthie Foster and The Blind Boys of Alabama have recorded his songs.

Bluebird Reviews named Miller Artist of the Year in 2023. This was in recognition of his outstanding poetry book and album Carnival Cocoon. He collaborated with Ruthie Foster on her latest album, 2023’s Healing Time. He graced the red carpet at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where that album garnered a nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album. (Scottie contributed to the title track and other songs on the album.) Furthermore, the same album received nominations at the 2024 Blues Music Awards. There, Scottie, Hadden Sayers and Ruthie won the Song of the Year award for “What Kind of Fool.”

Born in Minneapolis, Scottie Miller began piano lessons at age six. This became the start of a long and vibrant career in music and the arts. Further, he is first and foremost a pianist and songwriter. Also, he is best known in the blues and roots realm. However, he marches bravely through everything from jazz to rock, classical to Americana, gospel to funk. He’s always had a natural affinity for New Orleans music. When he’s not on tour with Foster, Scottie can be found captivating audiences around his hometown in the Twin Cities.

From a lifetime spent on the road, on the stage and in the recording studio, his lyrics convey a cathartic approach to writing. “If you can tell me how you do it, maybe I can find a better way to cope.”

Recommended for Fans of Ruthie Foster, Pinetop Perkins, Marcia Ball and Ronnie Baker Brooks.
