The Clarinet Trio. Traditional jazz without a net! Stripped down and exposed. Jimmie Noone, Edmond Hall, Barney Bigard, George Lewis—the list goes on and on of clarinetists who all at some point played their music alongside just piano and drums. Benny Goodman led the most famous of these trios with Teddy Wilson and Gene Krupa.

Local clarinetist Tony Balluff and drummer Dave Michael from the Southside Aces, along with the inimitable pianist Rick Carlson, have been exploring the music of the Clarinet Trio for the past four years now. Join them for an evening of 1920s Decatur Street in New Orleans, 1930s New York penthouse parties, and 1940s Los Angeles jazz clubs.
