“Twin Cities cabaret staple” – Star Tribune

“Women on the Moon” is a concert and visual event that showcases some of the greatest female artists from the 1960s. The show will celebrate Mama Cass, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Cher, Lesley Gore, Grace Slick, Janis Joplin and Dionne Warwick. In addition, it will cover Joan Baez, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt and many more.

The 1960s were inarguably the most prolific decade for female vocalists and musicians in many diverse styles and categories. To that end, women launched themselves into the music scene, from pop and folk to rock and rhythm and blues. Moreover, they claimed their space in the mostly male-dominated industry.

Producer and musical director Lori Dokken has assembled some of the Twin Cities’ finest female vocalists. They will transport you back more than fifty years to a time when so many things were static and tumultuous. However, people circulated “peace” and “love” were two of the most common words of the era.

Patty Peterson has performed all over the country. In addition, Patty received seven coveted Minnesota Music Awards. She was inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 2019.

Ginger Commodore regularly visits the Dakota stage. Further, she presents a true amalgam of musical styles with her own unique delivery.

Judi Vinar has been singing since the age of four. She has worked with The Wolverines, JazzMN Big Band, The Girls, and also toured extensively with Bobby McFerrin.

Rachel Holder’s versatile vocals have been featured with the biggest names in the Twin Cities music scene.

Katie Gearty is one of the most versatile vocalists in the region. She has collaborated with Bruce Henry, Debbie Duncan, J.D. Steele, Kurt Jorgensen, and others.
