Kavyesh Kaviraj imbues his life and stories into his music, carefully weaving his influences into a boundary-breaking modern jazz outfit. He is well-known in the Twin Cities and beyond as a pianist, composer and arranger. 

Kavyesh has garnered acclaim in many musical climates, and currently calls St. Paul, MN home. Primarily a jazz pianist, he is a sought-after musician in many genres. He has performed with internationally renowned artists like Wynton Marsalis, David Sanchez, Justin Robinson, Roosevelt Collier, Steve Cole and others. Further, he has been an important member of the Twin Cities music community. He has worked with local jazz legends like Debbie Duncan, Bruce Henry, Babatunde Lea, Kevin Washington, and LA Buckner. Simultaneously he is active in hip-hop, gospel, R&B, funk scenes and many crossover acts. To that end, he’s worked with Jamecia Bennett, The Steeles, I Self Devine, Lady Midnight, Desdamona, Nooky Jones and Toki Wright.

Kavyesh’s first original album FABLES unfolds after a long journey of honing his craft in Oman, India and now the Twin Cities. Accompanied by the region’s finest musicians, FABLES is a vivid journey through this young composer’s lens. Moreover, FABLES is set for a summer 2024 release on Shifting Paradigm Records.

Kavyesh is also a passionate music educator. He has experience as a private instructor and as an educator in music academies and public schools alike. Further, Kavyesh is currently on faculty at the piano department at The University of St Thomas. Also, he is part of the music department at Minneapolis College. Lastly, Kavyesh is also an instructor for various musical arts at Walker West Music Academy. Kavyesh enjoys leading jazz workshops and teaching music classes for children and youth, and his work takes him across the US. Additionally, his compositions and arrangements have been featured on radio, TV and in collaborative exhibitions.
