Jana Nyberg is a vocalist, flutist and band director from Minneapolis, MN. She appeared on Season Ten of American Idol and has released four full-length albums to date. Also, she is known for her expressive and soulful approach, and her ability to effortlessly shift between genres. A sought-after performer and recording artist, Nyberg has collaborated with Gigamesh, The Adam Meckler Orchestra, Jason Peterson DeLaire (Michael Bolton) Unus, Rass Kwame and others.
On stage, she brings a vibrancy and passion that is infectious and ignites her audiences. Nyberg’s newest project, The Jana Nyberg 5, released their freshman effort, Set On You, in August of 2017. Furthermore, JN5 pushes small ensemble vocal jazz to the modern edge with exciting interpretations of well-loved standards and obscure gems alike. Also, The Current named Nyberg one of the “Ten Women To Know On The Twin Cities Jazz Scene” in 2018.
Adam Meckler is a trumpet player, composer, songwriter, educator, and entrepreneur living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Additionally, he is an Edwards Instrument Co. Performing Artist and Clinician. He also leads the Adam Meckler Orchestra (AMO), an 18-piece big band that plays his original compositions. Further, the AMO’s release When the Clouds Look Like This was listed as one of the best jazz releases of 2014 by iTunes. Also, legendary alt-jazz label Ropeadope Records released their Magnificent Madness album to critical acclaim in 2018. Furthermore, it featured collaborations with hip-hop artists and soul singers including Emmy-winning rapper Toki Wright and Grammy-winning vocalist J.D. Steele. Finally, AMO’s four critically acclaimed albums showcase Meckler’s penchant for both melody and groove, and his knack for potent collaborations.
