Charanga Tropical performs as a ‘charanga,’ an instrumentation that dates back to the roots of Cuban music. The sound combines violins, flute, vocals, and full Latin rhythm section. Charanga’s specialty is danzón, a style that was greatly influenced by French refugees who came to Cuba in the early 19th century, as well as a vibrant mix of modern salsa and original compositions.
