“Souther did more than sketch out the emotional landscape for the introspective West Coast country-rock sound of the 1970s. He set the template.” -No Depression
You may not recognize J.D. Souther’s name, but you’ve heard his work. He co-wrote some of the Eagles’ biggest hits, including “Best of My Love,” “Heartache Tonight” and “New Kid in Town.” He also penned Linda Ronstadt’s “Faithless Love” and collaborated with Bonnie Raitt, Christopher Cross and James Taylor. An integral part of the Laurel Canyon music scene of the late ’60s/early ’70s, John David Souther helped define the country-rock sound of the era. He captured the dusty, noirish melancholy of the genre. It’s a body of work that landed him in the Songwriters Hall of Fame alongside writers with more fame but no more talent. Tonight’s performance is sure to be inspiring and memorable!
The wonderful local talent Sarah Morris will be opening for J.D
