“The best kind of jazz laboratory; one where the heroes of the past are celebrated alongside these relatively young icons in the making.” – All About Jazz
“It’s a superbrain for what serious jazz sounds like now.” – The New York Times
Praised for its innovative approach to repertoire, SFJazz Collective performs a new list of compositions by a modern jazz master and new pieces by the Collective members every year. Ornette Coleman? John Coltrane? Herbie Hancock? Thelonious Monk? Stevie Wonder? They’ve done it all. Their first and only studio album Wonder: The Songs of Stevie Wonder, won Outstanding Jazz Album at the 45th Annual NAACP Image Awards in 2014. On the 2015-16 tour the all-star octet turns its sights on none other than the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
