“One of the UK’s most endearing and enduring psychedelic treasures” -BBC
As a former member of punk/new wave band The Soft Boys, Robyn Hitchcock is one of Britain’s most revered cult artists. His prolific solo career began in 1981 with the release of his first album Black Snake Diamond Röle. Since then he has released 18 studio albums, both as a solo artist and with various groups: he formed the Egyptians with other former Soft Boys members in 1984 and joined forces with collaborators Peter Buck of R.E.M., Young Fresh Fellows’ frontman Scott McCaughey and Ministry’s Bill Rieflin to create the Venus 3 in 2006.
Hitchcock’s most recent release is the 2011 solo album Tromsø, Kaptein. The album was recorded on a Norwegian record label and Hitchcock describes it as an English album written for Norwegian ears. Critics have described it as “more poppy and accessible than Robyn’s recent albums, but really interesting arrangements, gorgeous harmonies and neat little melody twists mean that each time you listen to it you hear something new”.
Richard Lloyd occupies a special place in music history. From early guitar lessons under the indirect tutelage of Jimi Hendrix to his groundbreaking work with Television and the Rocket From the Tombs, Richard Lloyd’s visionary guitar work has made him one of the most unique voices in the first generation of punk rock.
