An evening full of sizzling soul and Ginger’s powerful vocals.

“Ginger possesses some of the sweetest and most clarion pipes in town.” -Britt Robson, City Pages

A member of the Midwest music scene for many years, Ginger is a regular visitor to The Dakota’s stage. Classically trained, gospel influenced, and jazz inspired, Ginger’s musical foundation is a true amalgam of musical styles presented with her own unique delivery. A former member of Sounds of Blackness, Ginger has also been very active in the local theater scene.

Tonia Hughes has been praised in musical theater circles for years for her remarkable tone and versatility. She takes that one step farther by making a rare club appearance! A lead vocalist with the Grammy and Stellar Award nominated Excelsior Chorale Ensemble, she has also been seen opening up for artists like Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and Little Richard.

The band is joined tonight by pianist Adi Yeshaya, who has just finished a year of touring as Whitney Houston‘s Musical Director. He was active in the Minneapolis jazz scene until 2008, when he took a one-year teaching post at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. We are lucky to have him back in town, and at the club for this show.
