Bill Charlap & Renee Rosnes

This husband and wife team have each enjoyed successful solo careers: Bill as one of the foremost interpreters of the Great American Songbook in the country and Tony Bennett‘s Musical Director, and Renee as an inveterate modernist who has worked with Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, and the SFJAZZ Collective. With Charlap’s two Grammy nominations and Rosnes’s four Juno Awards, their collective musical experience packs a mighty musical punch. But on their recent release, Double Portrait, they do anything but. This sparkling set of four-hand piano duets explores standards, jazz tunes, and one Rosnes original with a striking clarity and minute attention to detail. Since their 2007 marriage their two-piano performances have increased, but their busy schedules keep shows like this one few and far between.
