Minnesota’s’ First Family of Music, The Peterson Family, has been performing locally, nationally, and internationally for many years. The family consists of Matriarch Jeanne Arland Peterson, her five children Linda, Billy, Ricky, Patty and Paul as well as grandson Jason. The Peterson Family are very excited in returning to the Dakota Jazz Club to celebrate 22 years performing their Holiday Shows.
JEANNE ARLAND PETERSON, jazz pianist extraordinaire, is a living legend and the matriarch of the Peterson Family. She has won numerous awards, including the Arts Midwest Jazz Masters’ award in 1998. Jeanne has recently been the featured pianist on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz show on Public Radio. She has five CDs to her credit which include the newest one “88 Grand” released this past August. Governors Rudy Perpich and Arnie Carlson both declared a day in her honor, and she has the distinction of being one of only two women inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, the other recipient being Judy Garland. Jeanne has shared the stage with many talented performers and artists over the years. An impressive partial list includes Bob Hope, Perry Como, Red Skelton and Dianne Carroll, just to name a few.
LINDA PETERSON is a talented pianist, vocalist and songwriter, known internationally for her original jazz composition entitled, “Too Late To Leave Early” recorded in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her recordings have earned her international recognition as a respected jazz vocalist.
Linda performs with her group for jazz festivals, concerts and in clubs in America and abroad. She will be releasing a new CD of Latin Music this coming year. Linda has been delighting audiences nationally and internationally with her unique piano and vocal stylings for more than 20 years.
BILLY PETERSON is one of the premier bass players in the world, as well as being a successful producer and arranger. He has worked with Ben Sidran, Eddie Harris, Leo Kottke, Bob Dylan and Steve Miller, to name a few. Billy has been the bassist for the Steve Miller band for 20 years and they are currently touring nationally and internationally.
RICKY PETERSON is one of the most sought after studio and session keyboard players and producers in America. While continuing as the musical director for saxophonist David Sanborn, Ricky has a solo career as a vocalist/keyboardist, with five CDs to his credit. He coproduced “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World” for Prince and continues to produce for many other artists. Ricky is currently on tour with both Bonnie Raitt and David Sanborn.
PATTY PETERSON is a world class jazz and R&B singer, a radio talk show host on KBEM Jazz 88 in Minneapolis, is a mainstay in the radio jingle and voice over industry and now has forged a career as a national motivational speaker. She has performed to sold out audiences all over the country including The Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis. Patty has seven Minnesota Music awards to her credit, has three solo recordings and will be soon releasing a fourth solo smooth jazz CD featuring David Hazeltine, Bobby Lyle, Sheila E. as well as Billy, Ricky and Paul Peterson.
PAUL PETERSON was discovered at age 17 by the legendary artist Prince, and was featured in his award winning film Purple Rain. He is a multi-instrumentalist, playing bass, piano, guitar and drums. Paul is in demand as a studio and touring musician for Johnny Lang, Oleta Adams, Anita Baker, Paula Abdul, Joe Sample, Tuck and Patti and David Sanborn to name a few. Paul is currently touring with Oleta Adams and Kenny Loggins and is releasing a new CD in 2010.
JASON PETERSON DE LAIRE is proficient on keyboards and saxophone, as well as being a talented singer, songwriter and producer. Currently touring with Michael Bolton, he has also toured nationally and internationally with renowned artists such as Oleta Adams, Prince, Alexander O’Neal, Richard Marx and Donny Osmond. Jason just released his solo CD – “In My Life.”
