Booker T & the MG's
With special guest Eddie Floyd
Booker T and the MGs haven’t needed an introduction since they released the smash hit “Green Onions” nearly half a century ago, when Booker T. Jones was just 17. They were the greatest house band of all time, backing every star on the Stax record label in the heyday of Memphis soul, from Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett to Eddie Floyd, who will make a rare performance with the band during this special one-night stand. Rolling Stone magazine has labeled Booker T and the MGs one of the 100 greatest artists of all time, and last year the group received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Eddie Floyd
The unique thing about an Eddie Floyd record is that he combines Pop sensibilities with a down-home approach and a smooth, but soulful delivery. By heading to Memphis, joining Stax Records with the house band Booker T. and the MGs, Floyd cemented himself as one of the premier Southern “Soul Men” of the Sixties.
The pairing of Floyd with Steve Cropper would be one of Stax’s greatest partnerships. In fact, all of Stax’s stars benefited from Floyd’s pen. From Soul star Johnnie Taylor to Blues great Albert King to Rufus Thomas’s number two R&B smash “The Breakdown”, Eddie Floyd proved he could write for anybody.
